Main excursions

From the Refuge we will find routes suitable for all ages and for every need, from classic mountaineering to day trekking suitable for the whole family (for example: Ring itinerary) The climb to Cima della Presanella (3558 m) is undoubtedly the most prestigious excursion that can be made starting from the Segantini Refuge. Below is the description of the ascent to the Cima via the Monte Nero Pass: Ascent to the Cima della Presanella via the Monte Nero Pass (EEA): behind the refuge there are good indications for the Presanella, initially marked with white/red stamps which they soon end, continue following the small cairns, heading north/west. Start of the ferrata 3074 m: after having crossed a steep and icy section of the Vedretta di monte Nero, the via ferrata begins and remains south of the Bocchetta di monte Nero and climbs up to the ridge at around 3170 m and then descends on the opposite side onto the Vedretta di Eastern Nardis; end of the 3097 m via ferrata, descent on the Vedretta di Nardis Orientale characterized by large granite boulders on the glacier, the signs with white/red stamps are very sporadic as are the cairns. We proceed in a north/west direction parallel to the wall to our right which is the south/west slope of Monte Nero, then having reached the head of the valley we begin to climb steeply, helped by some red marks up to the summit plateau). Bivouac Orobica 3382m (we get there after having covered a short aided section which made us lose altitude. From the bivouac the summit is clearly visible, we reach it trying to stay on the upper part of the ridge always characterized by large granite boulders, absent signs) . Vetta Presanella 3558 with large summit cross and book of signatures.

Management / Ownership

The Segantini refuge in Val d'Amola, under the Presanella, changes management and looks to the future: Carmela Caola, cross-country ski instructor (specialized in teaching in English) and mid-mountain guide from Mavignola will take over. Sat chose you, among the many candidates, to take the place of Egidio Bonapace, at the end of the selection call. Indeed, after almost 10 years, Bonapace, a mountain guide, former President of the Mountain Academy and President of the Trento Film Festival, as well as an academician of the CAI, left the management of the "G. Segantini”. And it was he, yesterday, who announced the new owner, wishing her good luck. The refuge, located at the foot of the Presanella, was inaugurated in 1901 and owes its name to the great Archese painter Giovanni Segantini, who actively dedicated himself to describing the mountains through his paintings. Subsequently, the old "cube"-shaped refuge was joined by a new and modern one: it was 4 September 1977. Located in a suggestive environment, full of historical memories and natural harmonies, the refuge draws its origins in close connection with the first ascents of the Presanella peak, of which it forms a starting point. From Clemente Maffei Gueret to Egidio Bonapace, now Segantini looks to a young person, and the management becomes "pink".
